Description du poste

At Tetra Tech, you’ll help shape technically robust, sustainable solutions to some of the UK’s most complex civil engineering and environmental challenges. Working across high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects, you’ll bring technical clarity, confidence and leadership to schemes that make a lasting difference for our communities and the environment.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Consultant Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical development and delivery of civil engineering and flood risk management projects across government agency, water company, local authority and private sector portfolios.

You will provide high-quality engineering input across all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception and strategic optioneering through to outline and detailed design. You will help shape technically sound, practical and deliverable solutions, while supporting project teams to maintain momentum, quality and alignment with client objectives.

The role will involve taking ownership of defined workstreams, contributing to technical governance, guiding multidisciplinary coordination and helping ensure that risks, assumptions, interfaces and opportunities are clearly understood and managed. You will also support client engagement, technical approvals and the development of trusted, collaborative working relationships.

Your Impact in this position

You will help turn complex technical and environmental challenges into well-informed, balanced and deliverable outcomes. Your expertise will strengthen decision-making, improve design quality and support the delivery of solutions that are resilient, efficient and buildable.

Core Capabilities
Technical Leadership

Strong civil engineering and/or flood risk management knowledge, with the ability to develop and review technically sound solutions, support technical approvals and provide confident input on complex engineering issues.

Project Delivery

Ability to take ownership of technical workstreams, manage priorities effectively and contribute to the delivery of projects through structured controls, clear reporting and disciplined execution.

Collaborative Problem Solving

Strong ability to work across disciplines, drawing together engineering, environmental, stakeholder, commercial and construction perspectives to develop balanced and achievable outcomes.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Ability to build credibility with clients, delivery partners and stakeholders through clear communication, thoughtful technical input and a constructive, solutions-focused approach.

Leadership & Technical Development

A proactive commitment to learning, sharing knowledge and supporting others, with the confidence to influence project direction and contribute to continuous improvement.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Degree qualified in civil engineering, environmental engineering, flood risk management or a related discipline, with active progress toward chartership with MICE or MCIWEM.

You should have experience in civil engineering, flood risk management or a related discipline, with a growing reputation for technical quality, sound judgement and dependable project contribution.

Experience supporting option development, design coordination, technical reviews, construction-stage support or regulatory engagement would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to project or client locations is desirable.

Working Environment

This role can be based flexibly in the UK, with hybrid working supported. The role will involve collaboration with teams and stakeholders across multiple locations, so occasional travel will be required. Flexibility may also be needed to support workshops, client meetings and key delivery milestones.
