Job summary

A well-established consultancy in Birmingham is seeking an Assistant Ecologist ready to progress into a Consultant Ecologist role. The successful candidate will conduct protected species surveys and manage projects while contributing to the production of technical reports. Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' consultancy experience required.
  • Protected species license preferred but not mandatory.
  • CIEEM membership preferred.

  • Conduct protected species surveys.
  • Contribute to tenders and fee quotations.
  • Produce technical reports.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting protected species surveys (bats, great crested newts, reptiles, birds)
  • Contributing to the production of tenders and fee quotations
  • Producing technical reports (PEA, BNG, species reports, etc.)
  • Managing small to medium-sized projects
What You'll Need
  • A degree in ecology or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years' consultancy experience
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation
  • Protected species license (preferred but not needed)
  • CIEEM membership (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork within West Midlands
