Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is excited to invite applications for a Consultant Community Paediatrician to join our dynamic team at the Kaleidoscope Children's Centre in Lewisham. We are looking for a compassionate, inclusive clinician who shares our values and is committed to delivering outstanding care.
This newly created post offers a unique opportunity to support our newly redesigned initial assessment neurodevelopmental pathway aiming to reduce the waiting time for autism assessment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping early intervention and improving outcomes for young children and their families.

This is a new post and would suit a consultant who is wishing to develop their role within a department that has a broad range of community paediatric experience. The post holder will work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics, suite to their experience, competencies and the priorities of service provision.
There is no overnight commitment. The postholders will contribute to the daytime child protection rota, but there is no expectation to contribute to Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) medicals.

- The post holder will work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics, suited to their experience and competencies and the priorities of service provision.
- The post holder will undertake assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental concerns and safeguarding.
- Undertake neurodevelopmental assessments including for Autism and Social Communication Disorders.
- Participate in the consultant-led Child Protection rota.
- Undertake health assessments for Looked After Children and provide written reports as appropriate.
- Support and advice colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children and young people, whilst being clear about others personal clinical professional accountability.
- Provision of supervision to trainees and specialist doctors and extended members of the clinical team including clinical nurse specialists and AHPs.
- To participate in clinical supervision and continuing professional development of both career and training grade medical staff
- To work with Community Paediatric services and Childrens Community Services Directorate to meet service commitments and needs of children and families.
- To develop care pathways across the acute and community services
- To participate in the development of Specialist Child Health Services in collaboration with other members of the management team
- To support the collection of relevant information on the work of the medical team, detailing the work of the service for stakeholders.
- To take part in clinical and educational supervision of post graduate trainees.
- To participate in the medical student training programme.
- To plan and deliver training for GP trainees and other post-graduate teaching.
- Contribute to the delivery of training for health staff and inter-agency training.
- To liaise with other agencies on clinical and operational matters relevant to the work of the service.
- Provide advice and signposting to other professionals about legal processes, key research and policy documents.
- Liaise with professional leads from other agencies, such as Education and Childrens Social care.
- Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis and to ensure resulting actions are implemented.

- Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and child health or equivalent
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Applicants that are UK trained, must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

- MSc /Diploma in community child health or relevant subject
- Comprehensive Training and experience in community paediatrics
- Evidence of training and experience gained obtaining CCT in Community Child Health (CCH) or if CCT in General Paediatrics, must be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies required for CCT in CCH have been achieved
- At least 2 years' experience in Community Child Health including Neuro-developmental paediatrics, Safeguarding, Looked after children
- Training and experience in the identification and management of suspected child abuse
- Clinical experience in the field of safeguarding and substantial experience of the legislation relating to children and young people and the court process
- Experience of working with vulnerable children and young people and families and children in challenging situations.
- Valid BLS and NLS training
- Valid level 3 safeguarding training
- Training and experience in assessment of ADHD Experience
- Experience of lead role in an area of child health
- Broad experience of working within the NHS
- Active audit interest demonstrated by at least one completed clinical audit in the last year.
- Understanding of NHS systems and audit processes
- Evidence of service improvement projects and audits
- Publication of audit results.
- Experience in service development and quality improvement projects relating to Community Child Health
- Evidence of involvement and /or experience in risk processes such as Serious Incident reviews and patient safety systems
- Experience and interest in undergraduate teaching
- Skill and ability in formal and informal teaching for both under/ postgraduate students and nursing/midwifery staff
