Service Overview
The UCT provides assessments at the Emergency Department and to paediatric ward and medical wards (for 16‑ and 17‑year olds) at Hillingdon Hospital, as well as seven‑day follow‑up appointments for patients discharged from acute hospitals. On average the team sees 30 new cases per month, discussed with the team at first instance; if required, they are discussed with the consultant psychiatrist. The current caseload is not kept in the system but either transferred to another service for further input or discharged to primary care.
Once the urgent care outreach service (UCOS) is developed, the team will carry a maximum caseload of 10 active cases at any one time. The direct clinical care consultant caseload is expected to vary between 10‑20 cases, combined between liaison and crisis aspects of the service. The consultant is not expected to provide direct case management.
