Post Details

Consultant in Cellular Pathology based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The location involves working at both Guy’s and St Thomas’ sites, as well as the Synnovis Blackfriars Hub Laboratory. The role will be fully accountable to the Clinical Lead in Cellular Pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary lung pathology service (4.5‑5 PAs per week), reporting on routine and complex cases.
  • Perform Haematopathology reporting, including bone marrow trephine biopsies and cytology specimens related to haematopathology.
  • Integrate molecular and cytogenetic investigations into pathology reports.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (four MDMs weekly) and support consensus meetings.
  • Assist with flow‑cytometry reporting rota where required.
  • Support teaching of histopathology and haematology trainees and undergraduate students.
  • Contribute to ongoing research and clinical trials projects in partnership with the Biomedical Research Centre.
Qualifications
  • Full consultant UK professional qualification in pathology.
  • Demonstrated major interest in lung pathology and haematopathology, with an active diagnostic practice.
  • Experience in molecular analysis of tumours and integration with routine pathology reports.
  • Knowledge of cytogenetics and bone marrow pathology reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
Working Pattern & Flexibility

Flexible working arrangements will apply and staff may be asked to work evenings or weekends where required, subject to the new Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust consultant contract and the national provisions.
