A leading NHS healthcare provider in the UK seeks a Consultant Breast Radiologist for a one-year fixed-term post. The role involves providing expert radiology services, including both symptomatic and screening services for breast health. Successful candidates should have substantial experience in breast imaging, a Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists, and a passion for patient care. Applications are invited for a 1 year Fixed Term post to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful applicant will be joining a team of experienced and friendly breast radiologists in providing both symptomatic and screening breast services in our busy unit. We treat 700 patients with breast cancer per annum and the radiology team is supported by a Consultant Mammographer and 3 Advanced Practitioners. We provide a comprehensive diagnostic service which includes tomosynthesis, VAE and MRI as well as magnetic seed localisations to support our oncoplastic surgical service.
The successful candidate will need to be able to provide evidence of at least 5000 mammograms from the FRQA report of NBSS and should be able to act as Responsible Assessor in breast screening assessment clinics. Any applicant will be supported in maintaining their screening numbers through job planning and the screening programme is well supported by a full time Programme Manager and Quality Manager. Both the symptomatic and screening service operate from a single site at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Radiology department
There are 44 consultant radiologists with the department divided into subspeciality covering chest, cardiac, GI, GU, Head and neck and neuro, intervention, oncology and breast.
Portsmouth is a large teaching hospital and has most subspecialties and has a large research department. It is the regional centre for renal transplant, Renal services and Bariatric surgery. Portsmouth hospital is host to Portsmouth Medical School.
