Job summary

Luton and Dunstable University Hospital is seeking a consultant in benign colorectal and general surgery to join a six-consultant Lower GI team. The role focuses on outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, endoscopy and general on‑call work, with post‑operative care and teaching. Entry to the GMC Specialist Register or CCT within six months of interview is required.

The post offers opportunity to develop a personal specialty interest on a site being redeveloped with a new theatre unit.

Qualifications

• MB ChB or equivalent approved medical degree.
• FRCS (General Surgery) or equivalent certification.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.

Responsibilities

• Run colorectal and general outpatient clinics.
• Attend colorectal theatres and run theatre sessions.
• Attend diagnostic endoscopy.
• Provide post‑operative care with colorectal surgeons.
• Take part in emergency on‑call rotas and on‑call general surgery.
