You will work with colleagues to deliver high quality patient care, support professional activities scheduled by mutual agreement, and supervise junior staff.

This is a permanent consultant position with the opportunity to contribute to teaching and service

Responsibilities

• Clinical responsibilities include providing consultant-level anaesthetic service for elective and emergency services
• Maintaining patient safety and high quality care in line with GMC guidelines
• Contributing to budgeted service delivery and coordinating with other departments
• Supervising junior staff and providing leadership within the department
• Teaching and mentoring junior doctors and students in anaesthesia

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team. This role will service elective and emergency lists at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site in the Main Theatres, the Day Surgery Unit and the Sandringham Unit. In this role you will collaborate with Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure comprehensive and coordinated high quality anaesthetic services that meet the requirements of the Trust's objectives. Clinical Responsibilities

• To provide a consultant-level anaesthetic service for elective and emergency services
• To provide high quality patient care, minimising risks and maintaining patient safety in accordance with the GMC's Good Medical Practice
• To help in the delivery of effective services within the agreed budget
• To co-operate with other departments and agencies to meet the objectives of the Anaesthetic Department
• To accept to work flexibly within a nominally fixed timetable

Organisational / Managerial Responsibilities

• To supervise junior staff as appropriate
• To provide leadership and health-management skills
• To maintain the Directorate principles of effective multi-disciplinary team working
• To ensure personal knowledge of, and compliance with, Trust and departmental protocol

Teaching Responsibilities

• To help provide training, supervision and career development to junior doctors of all grades in the Anaesthetic Department
• To contribute to the education of medical and nursing students, paramedics and trainees in other specialities as required. We have recently increased our teaching commitments to the medical schools of Cambridge University and the University of East Anglia
