The post holder will be expected to
Provide clinical expertise and leadership to a defined multidisciplinary community mental health team.
Provide specialist assessment and clinical management of patients aged 18 and over with mental health problems referred from within the locality.

Take part in the consultant on-call rota within the Mental Health Directorate.
Undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health Act as a s.12 approved doctor and as an Approved Clinician.
Undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
The post holder will be responsible for organising their professional day and for ensuring that they can be contacted at all times during working hours.

Manage a small caseload of stable and complex patients as Care Coordinator as defined by the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and to undertake the appropriate clinical and statutory responsibilities of this role.
Provide medical liaison and advice to the Primary Mental Health Support Service and local GPs on a sessional basis.
Provide supervision for the speciality doctor and core trainee, and to a Specialist Registrar if the post holder is approved as trainer and an SpR is allocated to the team.
Liaise effectively with members of the team, other services within the Health Board, general practitioners and other agencies.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
