The Role: Building Skills and Futures

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team in Peterborough. Our vision is to ensure every student feels safe, happy, and achieves their potential through individualised learning packages and small class sizes. As a Construction Teacher, you will be pivotal in delivering high-quality, practical vocational education.

You will be responsible for creating an engaging workshop environment, embedding hands-on learning, and linking classroom theory to real-world construction tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across various construction trades (e.g., brickwork, carpentry, electrics, plumbing, painting & decorating).
  • Prepare Students for essential, industry-recognised qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, CSCS).
  • Differentiate Teaching effectively to support learners of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Uphold Safety by promoting the safe and responsible use of all tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Build Links with local employers and apprenticeship schemes to enhance student employability and career pathways.
  • Manage classroom behaviour, support Teaching Assistants, and contribute to the wider school community and continuous improvement.
About You: The Expert Trades Educator

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient individual with a genuine commitment to unlocking student potential in an alternative educational setting.

  • Strong Expertise: Possess up-to-date knowledge of construction trades, industry standards, and safe working practices.
  • Practical Ability: Confident in delivering practical skills training in a workshop and linking theory to real-world applications.
  • Inspirational Practitioner: An effective classroom manager with excellent communication skills, able to motivate and inspire disengaged learners or those with SEN.
  • Qualified: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or possess relevant equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Committed: Enthusiastic about safeguarding, equality, diversity, and proactively building employability skills such as teamwork and resilience.
  • Compliance: Willing to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) and Child Protection Training.
