Job summary

A leading oil and gas company is searching for an experienced Mechanical Construction Supervisor to oversee site construction and installation of mechanical and piping works. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil & gas sector. Responsibilities include managing site activities, reviewing contracts, and ensuring safety compliance. Ideal candidates should possess strong supervisory and communication skills and relevant educational qualifications in Mechanical Engineering. The position is based in Qatar.

Qualifications

Job Title: Construction Supervisor - Mechanical

Location: Qatar

Overview

A leading oil and gas company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Supervisor to manage site construction and installation of mechanical, piping, and pipeline works. The role covers brownfield, stations, refineries, and cross-country pipelines in onshore environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and control site construction/installation activities across mechanical, piping, and pipeline disciplines.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning and assist during commissioning of facilities.
  • Initiate and manage inspection and completion documentation including Punch Lists, Construction Completion Certificates (CCC), and Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC).
  • Inspect construction works and materials in line with quality plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Supervise contractors and ensure adherence to project schedules and standards.
  • Review design drawings, method statements, material requisitions, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct daily checks on contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and safety requirements.
  • Endorse work permits and ensure compliance with Permit to Work Systems and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with other discipline supervisors and liaise with QC and HSE teams to resolve site issues.
  • Review project planning, identify potential slippages, and optimize contractor resources.
  • Participate in as-built documentation and ensure proper project close-out.
  • Update daily and weekly progress reports, verify contractor progress statements, and attend project meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC), Diploma, or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical construction for oil & gas projects.
  • Knowledge of national and international codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Experience in mechanical and piping works, tie-ins, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning in brownfield projects.
  • Strong supervisory, planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in diverse cultural environments and collaborate across multiple project disciplines.
