Job description

Construction Solicitor (Non-Contentious) | National Law Firm | London

A standout opportunity to build a long-term career in construction law.

An award-winning UK commercial law firm is seeking a Construction Solicitor to join its nationally recognised non-contentious construction team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level lawyer who wants exposure to high-profile, complex construction and infrastructure projects, alongside genuine career progression and a supportive, flexible working culture.

The firm is well known for its strength in public sector and regulated markets, with a leading construction practice advising clients across housing, healthcare, education, local government and major infrastructure programmes. Continued growth in the team means there is real scope to develop technically, build a strong market profile and progress long-term within the practice.

The role

You will join a market-leading construction team advising on a wide range of non-contentious construction matters, with particular emphasis on complex, high-value development and regeneration projects across the UK. The role will suit a solicitor already practising in non-contentious construction, or a lawyer with a mixed contentious/non-contentious background who is looking to pivot towards a specialist non-contentious practice. You will work closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers, gaining hands‑on responsibility and direct client exposure from an early stage.

Key responsibilities
  • Drafting and negotiating construction and engineering contracts, including JCT and NEC forms, as well as bespoke documentation
  • Advising on supply chain agreements, professional appointments and collateral warranties
  • Supporting major projects across sectors including healthcare, social housing, education, local authority regeneration and large-scale residential developments
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across real estate, commercial and public law teams
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to the ongoing development of the practice
Quality of work

The team advises on some of the most significant construction projects in the UK, acting for public bodies, developers, funders and joint ventures. Instructions regularly involve:

  • Major hospital and healthcare developments
  • Large-scale housing and regeneration schemes
  • University and education estates projects
  • Complex infrastructure and public sector programmes

This breadth of work provides excellent technical grounding and long-term career value for an ambitious construction lawyer.

What the firm is looking for
  • 1-3 years' PQE as a qualified solicitor
  • Experience gained in private practice or in-house
  • Strong drafting skills and sound legal analysis
  • A commercial, pragmatic approach to problem‑solving
  • Interest in developing a specialist career in construction law
  • Confidence working directly with clients, with support from senior colleagues
  • An interest in networking and business development (no requirement for an existing following)
Why consider this role
  • High-quality, nationally significant work
  • Exposure to leading partners and complex projects
  • A clear route to long-term career progression
  • Flexible working without compromising on quality or ambition
