Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Construction Site Supervisor for a 320MW Battery Energy Storage System project in Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire. You will be the on-site representative for the Project Manager, driving safe, high-quality delivery and adherence to programme.

You will coordinate contractors, lead site meetings, monitor progress, identify risks, and maintain thorough records. A background in energy or major infrastructure projects with NEC contracts and SHEW compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising construction site work, preferably in energy, utilities, infrastructure or major projects.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including target cost and fixed-price arrangements.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements (SHEW, CDM, LOLER, PUWER, HSG45).
• SSSTS required; SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH desirable.

The role

We're looking for a Construction Site Supervisor to join our320MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Monk Fryston, one of the largest projects within SSE Renewables' growing onshore portfolio.

Acting as the on-site representative for the Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring this major infrastructure project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This is an opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day site activities, work alongside experienced industry professionals and contribute to infrastructure that will help support the UK's future energy needs.

You'll be at the centre of project delivery, building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders while ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and in line with project requirements.

You will

• Champion a positive safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors on site, driving safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of works.
• Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks and issues, and support timely resolution to keep the project on track.
• Lead site meetings, provide clear communication across project teams and maintain accurate project records and reporting.
• Inspect materials, workmanship and completed works to ensure standards, specifications and project expectations are consistently achieved.

You have

• Experience in construction site supervision, site management, Clerk of Works or a similar role within energy, utilities, infrastructure or major construction projects.
• A strong understanding of project delivery principles, including programme management, quality assurance, risk management and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts, including target cost and fixed-price commercial arrangements.
• Excellent knowledge of SHEW legislation and industry standards, including CDM, LOLER, PUWER and HSG45.
• SSSTS as a minimum, with SMSTS, IOSH and/or NEBOSH qualifications desirable.
• Knowledge of HV/EHV infrastructure, grid connection or energy projects would be advantageous.
