Job summary

Serco Group Plc is seeking a Client-Side Project Manager to deliver major construction projects on the Defence Academy site, with values from £2M to £30M. The role requires managing full lifecycle delivery in a fast-paced environment, ensuring on-time, on-budget outcomes and compliance with MOD standards.

You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, maintain robust governance, manage RAID logs, and ensure CAFM/SharePoint systems are kept up to date.

Qualifications

  • Proven project management experience in construction, with responsibility for budgets and governance.
  • Solid IT literacy and experience using CAFM and SharePoint for project documentation.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications (SMSTS/IOSH) preferred.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

Serco is responsible under the DACI and PFI contracts for delivering planned, reactive, SV/ARC variation projects as well as AMP Estates projects across the Defence Academy site. As a Client-Side Project Manager, you will be accountable for the delivery of projects delivery, to ensure Serco meets its contractual requirements, on time, on budget to an auditable standard. The role requires a thorough understanding of the wider FM landscape, this will be a challenging role and requires an individual with the experience of managing major construction projects from inception to completion, with values ranging from £2M to £30M. Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of full lifecycle projects in a complex, fast-paced environment. Manage multi-disciplinary project teams to meet objectives on time, within scope and budget. Create and maintain robust business cases, plans, budgets, and governance structures. Actively manage RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and driving timely escalation.
  • Ensure compliance with governance and assurance processes across the delivery lifecycle. Work with the customer to gain a clear understanding of their business requirements and identify solutions to meet these needs ensuring that they are captured as an agreed statement of requirements. The role is varied and includes the management of PPM and reactive work for subcontractor activities, the management and co-ordination of sub-contractors for service variation delivery and asset replacement projects, as well as supporting existing Project Managers with the delivery of more complex capital projects. Ensure CAFM Explorer system is updated in a timely manner to show PPM when complete and remedial jobs raised if required. Proactively manage all reactive tasks in CAFM. Ensure proactive management of asset data in CAFM following asset removal or replacement. Ensure Service Variations systems are updated with accurate information regarding project costs, programme and status, and that all supporting documentation is uploaded.
  • Be accountable for the correct management and filing of all project/works documentation, using existing systems such as SharePoint, CAFM and the Technical Library. Manage the delivery of works/projects from feasibility through to post-occupancy following the RIBA Plan of Works and Serco's formal project management processes, including project governance and change control. Ensure works/projects are delivered in line with MOD processes, and meet all current building and MOD standards, obtaining relevant approvals where necessary, whilst meeting Serco's requirements for buildability and maintenance requirements. Follow Serco's Procurement rules and regulations for the appointment of Contractor and consultant services and take responsibility for all contract administration and cost management in relation to works/projects delivered. Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards and ensure that all works are delivered in line with CDM 2015 and Control of Contractors processes.
  • Carry out quality audits on site whilst contractors are working, and ensure contractors are working safely and within their risk assessments and method statements. Carry out regular site inspections and take accountability of H&S matters in relation to all works delivery. Chair internal/external project meetings with relevant stakeholders. Work productively with other Serco personnel, ensuring that their productivity and attitude is not adversely affected by your actions and/or behaviour. To support business and customer objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
  • A ONC/HNC/HND in Construction, Build, Architecture or Building Services Engineering in either Mechanical or Electrical. Project Management skills and working knowledge of Building Engineering Services projects with a Contractor. Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g. SMSTS, IOSH). Excellent organisational and communications skills. Developed IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word, CAFM, Teams, Sharepoint etc.) Demonstrable experience of supervising staff in Project Management including: Leading an operational team to achieve KPIs.
  • Up to £60,000 depending on experience.
