Exciting Secondment Opportunities – Capital Projects Team

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH)

Help shape the future of one of the NHS's largest and most ambitious capital programmes.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the UK's leading NHS organisations, delivering world-class patient care, research and education. We are seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our Capital Projects Team on a 6-month secondment basis while we undertake a review of our capacity and future resource requirements.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team responsible for delivering one of the largest multi-million-pound capital investment programmes in England, supporting major construction, refurbishment and infrastructure projects across our diverse estate.

Whether you are an experienced construction professional looking to take on strategic programme leadership, a project manager seeking exposure to complex healthcare developments, or an organised administrator wanting to contribute to high-profile projects, we would love to hear from you.

The main function of the post is to provide programme management overview of the projects’ construction operations and infrastructure projects relating to the following Trust’s properties:

  • University College London Hospital, 235 Euston Road
  • Royal National Hospital for Ear, Nose, Throat and Dental Hospital
  • Mortimer Markets Hospital for Tropical Diseases
  • Other buildings that support the above hospitals

The project schemes within these properties are complex, multi-year delivery and directly relate to the Trust’s strategic objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of schemes listed on the capital programme as issued by the Head of Capital Projects, from conception to post project evaluation, including the appointment and management of external consultants and contractors taking place in the above properties. These projects across these properties vary in complexity and scale to the rest of the projects in the portfolio.

It is particularly important that the current team is operating efficiently and that there is minimal duplication and/or waste in current operating procedures.

We provide academically led acute and specialist services, to people from the local area, from throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. Our vision is to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education, and world-class research.

We provide first-class acute and specialist services across eight sites:

  • The Hospital for Tropical Diseases
  • University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street

It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

We are committed to sustainability and have pledged to become a carbon net zero health service, embedding sustainable practice throughout UCLH. We have set an ambitious target of net zero for our direct emissions by 2031 and indirect emissions by 2040.
