Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced Construction Planner to support planning, scheduling, programme controls, and NEC contract management for major nuclear infrastructure projects. This role requires expertise in project planning, baselines, EVM, and governance, collaborating with Project Managers, Commercial, Engineering, and Controls teams.

You will develop integrated schedules, monitor performance, and produce dashboards while ensuring compliance with nuclear quality standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a Planner, Senior Planner, Project Controls Planner, or Construction Planner.
• Strong experience with Primavera P6.
• Experience delivering projects within Nuclear, Defence, Energy, Utilities, Rail, or Major Infrastructure sectors.
• Experience managing schedule baselines and programme controls.
• Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Establish and maintain programme baselines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project performance against approved baselines.
• Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis and reporting.
• Track schedule and cost performance metrics.
• Support management of compensation events, change control, variations, and programme impacts under NEC contracts.
• Analyse critical paths, float consumption, and schedule risks.
• Produce programme dashboards, KPIs, and executive reports.
• Manage resource loading, forecasting, and capacity planning.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Support risk reviews, mitigation planning, and recovery schedules.
• Ensure programme governance aligns with nuclear quality and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Planner to support the planning, scheduling, programme controls, and contract management activities for major nuclear infrastructure projects.

This role requires a strong understanding of project planning and controls, including programme baseline management, earned value analysis, contract variations, NEC contract administration, and schedule performance reporting. You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Engineering teams, and Project Controls professionals to ensure robust project delivery and governance.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills

• NEC3 or NEC4 contract experience.
• Experience assessing programme impacts associated with compensation events.
• Knowledge of Variation Requests (VARs) and change approval processes.
• Experience managing baseline revisions and programme governance.
• Understanding of construction execution, commissioning, and engineering workflows.
• Nuclear new build, decommissioning, SMR, or regulated industry experience.
