Bauer Media Outdoor in St Helens (North West) is seeking Construction Operatives to join a two-person crew. You’ll break ground, install digital units, and replace parts while training to drive an HGV Class 2 vehicle. Travel across the North West with occasional overnight stays as needed, with lodgings provided.

The role is demanding, requires physical work at height, and a strong team ethos. A full driving licence and relevant certifications are essential, plus on-the-job training for HGV2.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence with minimal points.
• CPCS Slinger qualification is required.
• Competency with CAT and RAMS knowledge.
• NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specs.
• Experience using power tools such as hydraulic breakers and disc saws.

Responsibilities

• Transport digital units from the depot to installation sites.
• Break ground and install digital units.
• Replace components on digital units as needed.
• Work with a crew to manage workload within set timescales.
• Follow CDM 2015 regulations and health & safety policies.
• Ensure traffic management and site segregation measures are in place.
• Maintain tools and equipment on site.

We’re excited to be working on some interesting projects this year and now looking for Construction Operatives to join our growing team in St Helens.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working as part of a two-person crew, spending most of your day breaking up ground and replacing / installing new digital units and bus shelters for our local communities. You’ll must be willing to train to drive a HGV Class 2 Vehicle to help you do this.

This role will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) in the North West area, plus occasional travel further afield and some night working dependent upon business needs - sufficient notice will be given with lodgings and reasonable overnight expenses provided.

You’ll receive an attractive salary of £35,900, which will increase once you have passed your HGV Class 2 training , plus annual bonus, paid annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, opportunities for training and development and fully expensed tools and PPE.

It’s a physically demanding role which requires you to work at height, mainly using a small step ladder, so you’ll need to be a team player and watch/help out your crew partner.

If you’re not Class 2 HGV qualified then we’ll train you up and cover the costs, however you must be able to commute independently to and from our St Helens Depot in your own transport.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via a HGV truck (after training)
• Break ground and install digital units.
• Replace component level parts on digital units.
• Work with your crew partner to manage your workload within the agreed timescales, and in partnership with other local teams.
• Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
• Make sure traffic management is in place before starting work with segregation/prevention measures to prevent unauthorised people within your working area.
• Follow our Health and Safety policy and the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
• Correctly use equipment (including working at height), maintain and keep tools/equipment safe on site.

Knowledge, Experience and Attributes:

• Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
• CPCS Slinger
• Competency in CAT use.
• NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard
• Excavation and sub-structure knowledge
• Understanding of RAMS
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings
• Competency in use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and Disc Saws
