Construction Manager / Experienced Site Manager (Cabling - Power T&D)

Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business is delivering critical infrastructure across the UK - and we're growing. We're looking for an experienced Construction Manager / Site Manager to join our Ipswich-based team, supporting the high-profile BTNO Project.
This is a key role requiring strong leadership, technical understanding, and a safety-first mindset in managing cabling installation works on a major power infrastructure project.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Planning, managing, and delivering site-based construction activities - safely and sustainably
- Driving works to meet programme deadlines, cost targets, and quality standards
- Leading site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure excellence in delivery
- Managing stakeholder and client relationships to maintain trust and transparency
- Ensuring all personnel, systems, and resources are in place for successful execution
- Creating and nurturing a positive site culture where safety and teamwork thrive
- Continually reviewing performance and implementing improvements
- Working closely with project leadership to meet customer requirements and project constraints across time, cost, quality, risk, and scope
What you'll be doing
- Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL
- Ensure the team maintains accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.) and prepares reports for internal/external stakeholders
- Apply knowledge and experience of discipline to project delivery
- Implement technical information and drawings into construction activities
- Specify plant and equipment requirements
- Utilize numerical skills for planning and assessment
- Complete buildability assessments based on experience
- Apply scope, information, and configuration management principles
- Ensure reports provide relevant, decision-enabling information
- Support scope and package management for coordinated working
- Maintain focus on Zero Harm and stay updated with legislation changes
- Ensure safety and welfare of the public, employees, and supply chain
- Conduct safety and environmental tours, promote safety initiatives
- Monitor and improve H&S Management System effectiveness
- Manage welfare requirements
- Write and review RAMS, accept subcontractor RAMS
- Identify, report risks and hazards
- Ensure workforce competence and sufficiency
- Reinforce safety rules and control safety documentation
- Conduct audits and promote behavioral safety and compliance
- Coordinate work planning and resource allocation
- Develop and lead high-performing teams, supporting training and mentoring
- Ensure work handover and certification readiness
- Monitor KPIs and ensure project assurance activities
- Lead improvement groups and manage project budgets
- Handle commercial changes, requisition plant and materials, and control costs

The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience with various project types
- Proficiency in O365
- Current driving license
The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:
- CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent certifications
