Job Summary

Project: Euston Station, London

The Construction Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of assigned works packages and subcontractors, to key performance indicators (KPIs) on cost and programme, ensuring compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards. Responsible for ensuring that the works are constructed in a safe manner with due regard to the protection of the workforce, public and the environment. Develops and maintains relationships with Trade/Subcontractors, internal and external colleagues, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall running of the construction site and supporting the project management. They are responsible for planning, co-ordination and control of all site works delegated to them.
  • Providing support to team in driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development, and coaching.
  • Supporting and reporting to the Project Manager in all the elements related to the construction, programme of works and commercial issues of the works.
  • Providing detailed Planned versus Actual data for all works within their area, knowing when to escalate to Construction Leadership where deviation from the Plan is evident.
  • Ensuring client's requirements regarding the functionality and standards are met, making sure that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for supporting the construction team with the technical and engineering aspects of the works, in particular method statements, ITPs (Inspection Test Plan), construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
  • Supporting the preconstruction and construction teams in all aspects of construction delivery associated with your allocated package or area.
  • Chairing regular subcontractor meetings discussing safety, production, and quality.
  • Ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the RAMS; Supporting the site personnel during the execution of the works; and ensuring that the area is clear once works are completed.
  • Producing and maintaining daily record of progress of all construction activities on site (including personnel attendances, safety issues and constraints).
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge of relevant construction methodology and processes, associated with scope of works.
  • Have excellent communication (written and verbal), management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to plan and problem solve in collaboration with the project delivery team and subcontractors.
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations and other relevant legislation pertaining to the scope of works, as well as knowledge of Health, Safety & Wellbeing standards
  • The ability to write reports keeping accurate records of incidents, issues and labour and plant resources.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
  • Experience on a similar job, managing an area/package from Start to Finish onsite.
  • Managerial CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) accreditation.
