The project:

Work is progressing rapidly into the mechanical, electrical, and HVAC (MEH) installation phase. The client team, including Mace representatives, will provide leadership, direction, and guidance to contract delivery partners as part of an integrated team delivering large, standalone, multi-million-pound scopes of work, ensuring full coordination at the project level.

Responsibilities include managing the construction delivery of MEP services to meet outcomes for time, budget, safety, and quality. The role involves delivering high-quality, efficient, and profitable projects, ensuring compliance, governance, and assurance. Building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to support successful delivery is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the construction of MEP services within the project team, reporting to the project lead and ensuring compliance with Mace standards.
  • Oversee construction aspects, site environment, programme, health & safety, quality, and commissioning of the project.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, forming strong working relationships with clients, consultants, trade contractors, and team leaders.
  • Review programmes with trade specialists, monitor productivity, identify issues, and ensure schedule adherence using digital technologies.
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are followed, maintaining high installation standards.
  • Implement delivery strategies and programmes, achieving milestones, interfaces, dependencies, logistics, and sequencing.
  • Manage commissioning strategies aligned with Mace standards, including IST approach, ATPs, and soft landings.
  • Oversee project close-out, ensuring completion standards such as commissioning, as-built drawings, and snagging are met.
  • Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Work collaboratively towards net zero carbon goals, managing associated emissions and reductions during delivery.

Required skills and experience:

  • Proficiency in a technical trade (e.g., building services engineering), including installation, testing, and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of other trades, installation techniques, and system coordination.
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing, dependencies, and build elements.
  • Basic commercial management knowledge to assist with project control.
  • Strong planning skills, understanding critical paths, scheduling, and commissioning activities.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare standards.
  • Experience with quality assurance and system commissioning.
  • Familiarity with digital setting out and scanning technologies.
  • Proven track record delivering projects over £5m+ MEP value.
  • Experience in the construction sector and successful project contributions.
  • Proficiency in building services or engineering disciplines.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to operate under pressure, make decisions, and set objectives.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of managing resources effectively.
  • Trade/technical apprenticeship, SMSTS, and CSCS card required.

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of commissioning processes, BMS, and IST.
  • Certifications with CIBSE, IET, IMechE, SoPHE, CIOB.
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills.
  • Formal engineering or construction training (HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent).
