Overview
Construction Design Management & Safety Manager at AXA UK – responsible for safeguarding operations and stakeholders by designing, implementing and auditing processes aligned with CDM and health & safety legislation across Claims Operations and partner functions. The role is non‑office based and can be predominantly based from home.
Responsibilities
- Design and document CDM and Health & Safety requirements and processes for Claims Operations and Supplier functions.
- Develop and enhance the control framework for Building Claims compliance.
- Set up and conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Design, implement and test control processes to meet legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Provide technical support and training to Surveying Team, Claims handling teams and external suppliers.
- Lead complaint and dispute resolution investigations, report findings and make recommendations.
- Support structural aspects of high‑value, complex building claims.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Chartered Member of IOSH (essential) and Site Managers Safety Training Scheme / Asbestos Awareness (beneficial).
- Previous construction and CDM experience with demonstrable expertise under CDM regulations.
- Knowledge of building challenges, including contractor contract variations.
- Experience in managing and auditing supplies and contractors (essential).
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, creative problem‑solving skills.
- Exposure to the insurance industry (beneficial).
- Excellent communication skills to present findings to stakeholders.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
- Commitment to completing pre‑employment checks in line with FCA and PRA standards.
