Job description

The Construction Crew Leader is responsible for leading and working alongside volunteers and AmeriCorps members in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes. The Construction Crew Leader engages in hands-on construction, team leadership, documentation of progress, safety management, and site organization. The position requires a strong work ethic, adaptability to weather conditions, leadership skills, and hands-on construction experience.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the construction volunteer program, including group build days, orientation, training, task delegation, and developing volunteer leaders.
  2. Foster a positive team culture, empowering volunteers and Partner Families through effective training, supervision, and communication.
  3. Prioritize positive volunteer experiences and engage them in the mission, enhancing their skills over time.
  4. Maintain daily construction logs using Procore, including progress photos, deliveries, visitors, and inspections; update project schedules weekly.
  5. Manage tools and equipment, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and safety, including tagging out inoperable tools.
  6. Perform detailed construction tasks, such as framing, flooring, roofing, and finish carpentry.
  7. Complete miscellaneous work like landscaping, fencing, and drywall repairs.
  8. Assist in reviewing construction accuracy against plans.
  9. Work at heights up to 20 feet as needed.
  10. Lead safety meetings, track safety training, and report safety issues.
Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
  • Leadership and coaching experience.
  • Volunteer experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential construction, including framing.
  • Ability to read construction documents.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred.
  • Conversational Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle.

Compensation & Benefits: The hourly salary ranges from $24.00 to $29.00, with overtime paid at 1.5x. Benefits include health insurance, a 403(b) plan with 6% match, flexible spending accounts, and five weeks of leave. All candidates must pass background and screening checks.
