Job summary

Wates invites applications for a Commercial Management Trainee programme in the UK. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in managing project costs, monitoring financial performance, and advising on commercial decisions throughout the lifecycle.

You will build relationships with teams, suppliers and clients, learn contracts and processes, and progress toward relevant qualifications while travel and mobility on projects are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2:2 or above by Sept 2027.
• Willing to undertake Level 4 apprenticeship where applicable.
• Full UK driving licence may be required for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with colleagues, customers, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Assist in preparation, management and analysis of commercial reports and financial documentation.
• Monitor project costs and performance to keep projects within budget.
• Develop understanding of contracts and commercial processes to protect company interests.
• Support management of subcontractor accounts, including reviewing applications, valuations and payments.
• Forecast project costs, income and cash flow to aid commercial decisions.
