Job summary

KHR - Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in West Kingsdown, UK. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with a January 2027 start. You will join a small finance team supporting accounts processing in a growing construction business.

Key duties include purchase ledger, subcontractor payments, CIS, payroll support, and month-end duties. The ideal candidate has AAT2/3 or accounting degree progress and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with online systems/databases.
• Good numerical ability, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Well-organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities.
• Positive, flexible attitude and initiative in a small team.
• Professional communication skills within a small finance function.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase ledger invoices, matching to purchase orders and liaising with suppliers for documentation.
• Process weekly subcontractor payments and CIS payments.
• Support weekly payroll processing for site operatives.
• Complete month-end reconciliations and assist with general accounting duties.
• Liaise with site foremen to confirm operative bookings and payments.
• Manage shared finance mailbox and respond to queries.
• Maintain accurate financial records using internal databases and online systems.
• Provide cover for colleagues and assist with additional finance tasks as required.
