Construction and Engineering Teacher

Location: Desford

Contract: Temporary, Full-Time

Start Date: January 2026

End Date: Easter 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team and provide cover for Construction and Engineering classes until Easter. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about vocational education and committed to supporting students in developing practical skills for their future careers

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lessons in Construction and Engineering following the school's curriculum.
  • Support students in both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
  • Ensure a safe and productive learning environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven experience teaching or working within the Construction and/or Engineering sector.
  • Strong understanding of industry practices and vocational education requirements.
  • Ability to manage practical workshops safely and effectively.
Required Certifications
  • Teaching Qualification: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent, OR significant industry experience with a willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
  • Health & Safety Certification: Evidence of training in workplace safety (e.g., IOSH or equivalent).
  • Construction/Engineering Certification: Relevant Level 3 or higher qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Safeguarding: Current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
Desirable Skills
  • Experience delivering BTEC or similar vocational courses.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
