Job summary

A leading firm in property and construction in the UK is seeking a Solicitor for their legal team. The role involves advising on construction and civil engineering legal matters, drafting contracts, and managing disputes. Candidates should be admitted solicitors in the UK with skills in construction contracts. This position is open to junior and experienced lawyers.

Qualifications

An award-winning leader in the UK property and construction industry working across civil engineering, construction and facilities management seeks a solicitor to work as part of a small and supportive legal team. You will advise senior stakeholders on legal matters across a range of construction, civil engineering and services.

Responsibilities
  • In this position you will review, negotiate and advise upon terms for construction or civil engineering such as NEC and JCT forms as well as identifying risks
  • Draft and negotiate consultant appointments, novation agreements, collateral warranties, subcontracts and bond documentation
  • Advise and manage disputes in and outside court
  • You may also advise on general commercial contracts and issues such as provision of facility management services, data protection and bribery and corruption
  • Analyse and report on legislative changes and provide support on corporate governance
We are looking for
  • Solicitor admitted in the UK
  • Our client will consider junior or more experienced candidates and work will be aligned accordingly
  • Some knowledge of the construction and civil engineering sector is preferred
  • Experience of construction contracts such as NEC and bespoke terms required
  • You will possess strong drafting and communication skills as well as attention to detail
  • A commercially astute lawyer with decision making and problem-solving skills is essential
  • Sound IT skills
