Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team in Holborn, London. The role offers exposure to management accounts, project accounting and cashflow within a construction environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on accounts experience, strong Excel skills and a proactive approach. Full-time, Monday–Friday, with an office-based role and occasional home working where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar role.
• Experience in construction, property, contracting or project-based environments is desirable.
• Understanding of month-end processes and reconciliations.
• Experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, invoicing and payment processes.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data and reports.
• Excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Good communication with finance and operations teams.
• Proactive and able to meet deadlines; take ownership of workload.
• Experience with Sage 50 or Construct Cloud is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Assist with month-end accounting, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support weekly cashflow reporting and forecasting.
• Assist with project accounting and job-cost reporting with Commercial and Construction teams.
• Raise and process sales invoices across construction projects.
• Process supplier and subcontractor invoices and assist with payment runs.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve finance queries.
• Assist with payroll and staff expense journals.
• Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.
• Support broader finance administration and reporting.
• Assist with Excel-based reporting and process improvements.
• Ensure deadlines are met and information is accurate.
