Job summary

National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty is seeking a Ranger to protect and maintain vast estate habitats and engage with visitors about conservation. You’ll support wildlife and landscape management while ensuring safety and excellent outdoor experiences for all.

The role requires working weekends and some evenings, with DBS checks in place for safeguarding. You’ll join a dedicated team at Wallington, Morpeth, promoting access and enjoyment of the countryside.

Qualifications

• Experience in conservation work to protect habitats and landscapes.
• Ability to talk to all kinds of people about the work and why it matters.
• Hard-working and willing to learn.
• Able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines.
• Experienced in managing land, access and conservation, and working outdoors.
• Able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates.
• A driver with a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Protect and improve habitats and landscapes across the estate.
• Talk to visitors and community groups about the work and its importance.
• Ensure high standards of conservation work and outdoor visitor experiences.
• Build relationships with the local community and represent the National Trust.
• Follow guidance and safety procedures to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
