Job summary

African Parks is recruiting ten Data Management & Analysis interns to support portfolio-level ecological data backlog recovery and to embed standardized data workflows across parks and incubator projects.

Interns will work with the BSS unit and collaborate with the BI team, park staff, and coordinators to consolidate datasets, implement QA, and prepare analysis-ready outputs using R/Python scripts and BI templates.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed a Bachelor's Honours, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline
• Demonstrated interest in applied conservation work and ability to work across datasets and stakeholders
• Practical capability in data cleaning, organization, and quality control
• Significant skill with analytical/data tools (R/Python; basic SQL; GIS beneficial)
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication; able to work independently in a small team
• Willingness to learn new tools and follow standardized protocols
• Beneficial familiarity with ecological monitoring data types
• Experience producing clear summaries/visualizations or dashboards (PowerBI/RShiny/ArcGIS Online)
• Speak French and/or Portuguese and willingness to travel to remote places

Responsibilities

• Work under guidance of the Data Analysis & Intern Coordinator and Science Interface Manager
• Identify and consolidate existing datasets across parks
• Support standardized intake and onboarding into monitoring systems
• Implement data quality assurance and documentation practices
• Prepare analysis-ready datasets and automate basic outputs using predefined scripts/templates
• Run and adapt standard workflows and document issues clearly
