Overview

Conflicts Lawyer

A prestigious US law firm is seeking a Conflicts Lawyer to manage complex cross-border conflicts of interest matters and enhance global risk and compliance practices.

Salary to £160,000; £100 monthly employee contribution; Free lunch in the office every Wednesday; Hybrid working – 4 days in the office / 1 day WFH; Location: Liverpool Street.

Responsibilities
  • Support the identification, analysis, and clearance of actual and potential conflicts of interest relating to new business, lateral hires, and incoming legal personnel, in line with US and UK conflict rules.
  • Liaise with the Director of Conflict Services and the General Counsel’s Office to ensure timely conflict clearance and approval.
  • Coordinate with lawyers and firm personnel to obtain necessary waivers, consents, Outside Counsel Guidelines, and engagement letters.
  • Prepare and maintain conflict waivers and related documentation for firm-wide use.
  • Review client Outside Counsel Guidelines and assist with ensuring firm compliance.
  • Support the implementation of Ethical Walls where required.
  • Assist with training new Conflicts Analysts and Coordinators on professional conduct and regulatory compliance (Model Rules and SRA Code of Conduct).
Skills & Requirements

  • 3+ years of demonstrated legal conflicts of interest researching, identification, and resolution experience in the Conflicts Department of a major law firm
  • Exceptional working knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations and Model Rules of Professional Conduct, as applicable, across Firm jurisdictions required.
  • Experience analysing conflicts for complex transactional matters, lateral partners and other legal personnel candidates is strongly preferred.
