An exciting In-Service Configuration Support Engineer opportunity has arisen for a talented engineer to join our team in our Service Data Centre / Availability Centre, based at Rolls‑Royce Submarines in Derby.

As the In-Service Configuration Engineer, you will actively track, assess, and manage Rolls‑Royce Submarines assets through configuration software and multi‑site collaboration assisting in the nuclear deterrent operating as efficiently, and safely as possible.

What you will be doing

As an In-Service Configuration Engineer, you will be:

  • Managing and maintaining configuration records of all submarines currently in-build or in-service.
  • Deliver, author/technical checking of configuration control documentation as required by the business.
  • Management of life limited components fitted on submarines.
  • Liaise with site office to ensure a current and up to date record of boat asset inventory and serviceability status during maintenance periods.
  • Make continual improvements to Maximo / In-Service Configuration processes.
  • Respond to queries within the business to provide configuration guidance when required and support resolution of problems with the in‑service and in‑build fleet.
Who we’re looking for:

  • An Engineering background ideally in Manufacturing or Process or Design with an understanding or experience of managing the configuration of an in-service product/asset.
  • Experience of inputting and manipulating data in database systems (such as IBM Maximo and Cognos), or Microsoft Office based applications (e.g. Excel and Access, and Power BI).
  • Customer focussed with capable communication and influencing skills working with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Ideally qualified to HND / foundation degree / degree level, in engineering, or significant engineering experience.

To work for the Rolls‑Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.
