Job summary

Expleo is seeking a Configuration Manager for a contract role onsite at our client's premises in the UK. The position will involve CM planning, item management, and document control within a stringent aerospace/engineering environment, with occasional travel to other sites or customer locations.

Overview

As part of our continuing support to our client, we are seeking to recruit Configuration Managers. The position will be onsite at our clients premises.

We are able to offer this position on a contract basis, the hourly rate/salary is negotiable and will be based on experience, seniority, etc. The role is inside IR35.

The Configuration Manager is required to:

• • Control of project(s) Configuration Process & Plans in a team environment, in collaboration with other team members, reporting directly to the UK CM Team Leader. A Configuration Manager may be assigned to low complexity Project(s) and act as a team player in a shared programme environment.
  • The Configuration Manager will be responsible for all Project Configuration items, in collaboration with the Project Team and the UK Configuration management (CM) Leader.
  • The Configuration Manager is accountable for ensuring the correct registration and assignment in the Company Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tool.

Travel required: Occasional travel to other Safran sites or customer locations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform CM planning for new and existing projects, defining an effective tailored CM Implementation, to meet Business/Customer specific Configuration requirements
• Support the identification of contract/subcontract requirements to ensure effective CM performance of partners and suppliers
• Write and maintain the CM Plan in accordance with Safran policies and contractual/tender requirements,
• Implement the Approved CM Plan within the Project
• Participate in the creation and management of Configuration Item (CI’s), Product Structures & Bill of Materials (BOM’s) in Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) tool.
• Participate in the design / stage reviews (Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design review (CDR)…).
• Responsible for the establishment & maintenance of configuration baselines (for example Functional Baseline (FBL), Allocated Baseline (ABL), Product Baseline (PBL))
• Implement the configuration change management system and manage internal Change Control Boards (CCBs) as Co-Chair.
• Co-ordinate and control the configuration change process for all change activity.
• Ensure design change is traceable throughout design and implementation from End-2-End.
• Establish, maintain and release the milestone Configuration Documentation to track design evolution and implementation, to capture, verify and control configuration information.

Qualifications

• Good standard of Higher Education (Diploma, CMII Certification or equivalent experience).
• Oral & written English Language essential.

Essential skills

Technical Knowledge (Full Configuration)

Full Configuration Management knowledge in:

• Configuration Planning and management
  • Create a Configuration Management plan (CMP) to guide the CM program.
  • Configuration Identification.
• Define and manage CIs within a project or product.
  • Establish baselines for documentation, specifications, drawings, and software.
  • Configuration Control.
• Implement and administer change control procedures.
  • Review and coordinate change requests (Engineering Change Requests/Orders).
  • Ensure all changes are documented, assessed, and approved.
• Configuration Status Accounting
  • Maintain accurate records of configuration data, baselines, and changes.
  • Produce reports that provide traceability and status of all configuration items.
• Configuration Audits
  • Plan and conduct configuration audits to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Ensure that products conform to their documented standards and baselines.
• Documentation Management
  • Manage technical documentation related to product configuration (specifications, drawings, BOMs, software releases).
  • Ensure controlled access and distribution of configuration documents.

• Collaboration and Coordination
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, project management, and suppliers.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment across different teams to support configuration activities.
• Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to configuration management standards (e.g., EN9100, ISO 10007, internal Safran processes).
  • Support audits and certification activities.
• Process Improvement
  • Develop and refine configuration management processes and tools.
  • Train and mentor staff on configuration management best practices.
• Ability to act with a high degree of autonomy ("work autonomously as well as within a team")
  • Guide others.
  • Be accountable for broad CM deliverables.
  • Customer CM deliverables.

Experience

• Experience in Configuration Management experience in a rigorous engineering/technical or data management environment.
• Working knowledge of CM Standards: ISO10007.
• Desirable:
  • Aerospace, Space, Military, Automotive, Petro-Chemical Industry.
  • Experience in a sensitive data environment advantageous.
  • French/German languages advantageous.
