Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (Configuration Control) to establish, govern, and maintain configuration baselines across submarine engineering programmes. You will work with Engineering, Project Management, Customers and Suppliers to ensure safe, compliant delivery under robust change control.

Key responsibilities include developing CM plans, managing changes, monitoring status, and providing reports for design reviews and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Understanding of engineering lifecycles and configuration management principles.
• Knowledge of asset hierarchies and product structures, including WBS, PBS, and BOM.
• Experience managing baselines, design changes, and technical documentation within complex engineering projects.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and governance processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Configuration Management Plans and controlled baselines throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Manage and govern configuration changes, ensuring robust processes and traceability are in place.
• Monitor configuration status, identify risks or issues, and support corrective actions and recovery plans.
• Ensure configuration control requirements are applied across projects and flowed down effectively to suppliers.
• Provide configuration status reporting and support design reviews, audits, and lifecycle management reviews.
• Promote best practice in configuration management and provide guidance to engineering and project teams.
• Support project planning, estimating, and delivery activities related to configuration control.

Role Purpose

The Principal Engineer (Configuration Control) is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and governing configuration baselines across submarine engineering programmes. Working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Customers, and Suppliers, the role ensures products, systems, and documentation are delivered safely, compliantly, and under effective change control.

Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• CM2 certification preferred.
