DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MAIN TASKS OF JOB
- Daily liaising with Technical Manager (TM), Senior Technician (ST), Concrete batchers & drivers, and customers
- Sampling and testing concrete on site – Consistency, air content, plastic density, temperature and making of test cubes, including subsequent demoulding & curing
- Sampling of recycled water
- Sampling & labelling of aggregates – delivery of samples for external testing; testing of samples for internal purposes (Particle Size Distribution, Moisture, Chloride)
- Calibration of laboratory / test equipment
- Density & Compressive testing of concrete cubes
- Moisture, Density & Compressive testing of concrete blocks
- Data entry on control systems and first line reporting
- Assisting with lab / plant trials and testing
- Answering customer (and potential customer) product enquiries, including referral to TM/ST where necessary
- Monitoring and testing of water (quarry & landfill samples & meters etc.)
- Gas meter readings
- Challenge behaviours which demonstrate a negative attitude towards product quality & conformity
- Compliance with the Laboratory Procedures Manual and the Quality Manual in support of the Company’s Quality Objectives
- Act in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices, highlighting any issues appropriately
- Update areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job correctly
- Attend development / training courses (internal & external) as required
- Investigate & feed back to TM/ST on quality issues seen at concrete plants & customer sites
- Perform duties as directed by Technical Manager and Senior Technician
