Our Sheffield Foyer provides accommodation, training and support to help young people who have been affected by homelessness to live independently and find a pathway into employment. As a Concierge Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and smooth operation of the building, while providing a welcoming and professional front‑of‑house service to residents, visitors, and external partners.

This role operates on a shift pattern of 16:00 to 23:00, Monday to Friday, working 35 hours per week.

Reporting to the Foyer Senior Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing reception cover and customer support throughout your shift, ensuring only authorised individuals have access to the premises.
  • Managing the door entry system, CCTV, and associated technology in line with data protection regulations.
  • Conducting regular internal and external security checks, investigating alarms or irregularities, and securing the building as needed.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and administrative support, including logging incidents and daily activities.
  • Handling repair requests, liaising with contractors, and ensuring safe access to resident areas.
  • Assisting residents with landlord equipment, including selling electricity and laundry tokens.
  • Supporting new residents by issuing Welcome Packs and explaining fire safety and health procedures.
  • Managing disputes between residents and escalating issues to appropriate agencies when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date customer records in collaboration with the Foyer team.
What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for young people. You will be a calm and confident presence, able to respond to challenges with professionalism and empathy. In addition, you will bring:

  • A sensitive and supportive approach to vulnerable individuals, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
  • Previous experience in a concierge or similar role.
  • Knowledge of CCTV operation and building security procedures.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Desirable
  • Experience working with young people aged 16–25.
