Job Title: Composites Team Leader

Location: Newquay, Cornwall

Salary: £16.00 - £19.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time, permanent

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Composites Team Leader to join a leading composites manufacturer based in Newquay.

This is a hands‑on leadership position within the production team, focusing on hand lamination of tooling and components using pre‑preg materials, core products, and adhesive films. You'll oversee a small team of Composites Technicians and Manufacturing Operatives, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety procedures are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out hand lamination and lay‑up of composite tooling and components using pre‑preg materials, core products, and adhesive films
  • Prepare moulds, applying seal and release agents as required
  • Perform debulking and final vacuum bagging of components ready for autoclave curing
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and report shortages to management
  • Lead, train, and support Composites Technicians and Manufacturing Operatives
  • Monitor production quality, ensuring all work meets customer specifications and traceability requirements
  • Maintain high standards of safety, organisation, and cleanliness within the cleanroom
  • Accurately record work orders and stock movements in the ERP system
  • Identify training needs and communicate them to the Production Manager
  • Support continuous improvement and uphold 5S workplace standards
About You
  • Proven background in composite manufacturing (aerospace, motorsport, marine, or high‑performance sectors preferred)
  • Skilled in hand lay‑up and pre‑preg composite techniques
  • Previous team leader or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
  • Confident communicator with a proactive and hands‑on approach
  • Knowledge of autoclave processes and cleanroom standards
  • Familiarity with ERP or production control systems is advantageous
  • Committed to health and safety and continuous improvement
