Job summary

West Sussex-based food manufacturing business is hiring a Compliance Technologist to support food safety, quality, compliance and new product development. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you'll maintain food safety systems, ensure products meet legal and customer requirements, and manage technical documentation.

Key tasks include handling supplier approvals, specifications, and audits; maintaining BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP and VACCP; producing nutritional information and compliant labels;

Qualifications

• 3+ years in FMCG technical/compliance role.
• Knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP and food labelling legislation.
• Experience supporting audits, supplier approvals, and specification management.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to customer complaints and food safety concerns.
• Maintain compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP requirements.
• Manage supplier approvals, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Support audits, traceability exercises and mock recalls.
• Review and maintain raw material and finished product specifications.
• Produce nutritional information and legally compliant product labels.
• Manage non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Lead pest control processes and support monthly technical reporting.
• Support factory trials, product testing, and product launches.
• Work with Production, Commercial, Engineering and Warehouse teams to ensure standards are met.
• Deputise for the Technical Manager when required.

The Opportunity

I am recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing business seeking a Compliance Technologist to support food safety, quality, compliance, and new product development activities.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining food safety systems, ensuring products meet legal and customer requirements, managing technical documentation, and supporting the successful delivery of NPD projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to customer complaints and food safety concerns.
• Manage supplier approval processes, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Maintain compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, traceability exercises, and mock recalls.
• Review and maintain raw material and finished product specifications.
• Produce nutritional information and legally compliant product labels.
• Manage non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Lead pest control processes and support monthly technical reporting.
• Support factory trials, product testing, and product launches.
• Work closely with Production, Commercial, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to ensure food safety and product quality standards are met.
• Deputise for the Technical Manager when required.

About You

You'll have experience within food manufacturing and a strong understanding of food safety and compliance systems.

Essential

• Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a technical/compliance role within FMCG food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, allergens, and food labelling legislation.
• Experience supporting audits, supplier approvals, and specification management.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Bakery industry experience.
• Experience with nutritional calculation software.
• Internal auditing experience.
