Job summary

TPF Recruitment Ltd is working with a professional services firm to appoint a Tax Manager for its Private Client tax team. The role focuses on personal tax compliance, client management and technical review for a portfolio of high net worth individuals.

You will oversee delivery of high-quality tax compliance work, act as a key contact for clients and HMRC, and provide guidance to junior team members. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in personal tax.
• Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance.
• Experience preparing and reviewing personal tax returns.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of clients.
• Confident liaising with HMRC and high-net-worth individuals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and review complex personal tax returns.
• Own a portfolio of high-net-worth private clients.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients and handle enquiries.
• Keep up to date with tax legislation changes and communicate them.

Job description

TPF Recruitment is working with a highly regarded professional services firm that is looking to appoint a Tax Manager to join its Private Client tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional to take responsibility for a portfolio of high net worth individuals, with the role predominantly focused on personal tax compliance, client management and technical review.

You will oversee the delivery of high quality tax compliance work, act as a key point of contact for clients and HMRC, and provide technical support and guidance to more junior members of the team.

The Role

• Managing and reviewing complex personal tax returns
• Taking ownership of a portfolio of HNW private clients
• Ensuring all compliance deadlines are met
• Building strong, long term relationships with clients
• Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients, including dealing with enquiries where appropriate
• Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and communicating relevant developments
• Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing technical guidance
• Supporting the development and training of junior colleagues
• Identifying opportunities for additional advisory work across the existing client base
• Supporting senior management with ad hoc advisory projects and technical queries
• Working closely with other areas of the business, particularly Wealth, to provide a joined up service to clients
• Monitoring your portfolio's time, profitability and billing

Although there will be some exposure to advisory work, this is primarily a personal tax compliance focused position.

Requirements

• ATT qualified and CTA qualified or part qualified
• Experienced in personal tax, with 5 years' experience or more
• Strong technically across personal tax compliance
• Experienced in preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
• Comfortable managing your own portfolio of clients
• Confident dealing directly with HNW individuals and HMRC
• Well organised, commercially aware and able to manage multiple deadlines
• Comfortable reviewing work and supporting the development of junior team members
