Job Overview

Are you a qualified legal professional with a passion for driving best‑practice compliance in a modern legal environment? We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focused Compliance Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer to join our growing Compliance team and play a key role in supporting our regulatory and risk management framework. Working closely with the Head of Compliance, you will provide expert guidance on compliance matters, ensure adherence to SRA Standards & Regulations and GDPR, and support the business in maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct. This role offers the opportunity to influence firm‑wide compliance culture, collaborate across departments, and contribute to strategic business initiatives while developing your leadership capability. Responsibilities
People Management
  • Coach, develop and support team members
Technical
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice on compliance issues, particularly relating to the SRA Standards & Regulations, GDPR and other relevant frameworks.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory changes and best practice.
  • Liaise with other business stakeholders in respect of statutory or regulatory changes to their business areas and, where necessary, assist in change implementation.
  • Assist in drafting policies, procedures and documents to ensure the business is compliant with statutory & regulatory obligations.
  • Assist the legal teams in the proactively managing wider business risks.
  • Review and report on any statutory or regulatory considerations in planned business changes.
  • Assist with the implementation of any matters raised by the Internal Risk Committee or the Board.
  • Report to the Internal Risk Committee (monthly) in respect of business risks and compliance‑based issues.
  • Manage risk relationship with our professional indemnity insurers, and deal with any formal negligence claims.
  • Deliver general compliance KPIs and project specific KPI.
Qualifications
  • Qualified and experienced Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer.
  • Experience of successfully working in a legal Compliance team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members and to manage the sensitivities of challenging legal practice appropriately where necessary.
  • A good understanding of and the ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • A good understanding of how to balance compliance with business drivers.
  • Experience of coaching and supporting team members.
  • Ability to role‑model good practice leadership.
  • Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services.
  • Strong analytical skills, Experience of working in a legal Compliance team.
