Job Description
- Support the Head of Professional Liability in managing and reporting claims, including insurance notifications and renewals.
- Investigate client complaints and claims, drafting responses or coordinating with external counsel for complex matters.
- Maintain accurate records of complaints and track related deadlines.
- Act as a liaison with the Legal Ombudsman.
- Assist the General Counsel with internal and regulatory investigations, as well as other contentious matters, including disputes with external suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including SRA Standards and Principles.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate should have:
- 5-7 years' qualified experience in civil or commercial litigation, ideally with a focus on professional negligence.
- Background in handling claims against solicitors and insurance coverage matters is advantageous.
- Experience may come from either fee-earning or in-house legal roles.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and demonstrating strong initiative.
- Effective communicator, able to convey complex or difficult decisions clearly to stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the firm.
- Resilient, adaptable, self-motivated, and ideally experienced in a large City or international law firm environment.
