Job description

We are partnering with a rapidly growing global financial services platform to appoint a Project Manager into its Compliance Operations function.

Our client operates across global commodities and financial markets, providing market access, liquidity and infrastructure services to a broad client base including commodity producers, hedge funds, asset managers and banks. The business has expanded significantly in recent years through acquisitions, product innovation and international growth, increasing both its global footprint and regulatory complexity.

As a result, the Compliance function is continuing to evolve and scale — creating the need for a commercially minded, delivery-focused project professional to support the execution of the Group Compliance Transformation Programme and broader operational change initiatives.

This is a high-visibility role reporting to the Head of Compliance Operations, offering strong exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the firm’s global compliance operating framework.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead and support strategic and regulatory change projects across the global Compliance function, helping to enhance governance, technology, reporting and operational effectiveness.

Working within the Compliance Operations Office, the role will combine project management with elements of business analysis (approximately 70/30), ensuring initiatives are delivered from concept through to implementation and transition into business-as-usual.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing projects within the Group Compliance Transformation Programme
  • End-to-end delivery of compliance change initiatives across the full project lifecycle
  • Supporting regulatory and operational change initiatives including areas such as SMCR, MiFID, trade surveillance and governance frameworks
  • Coordinating requirements gathering and performing gap analysis across compliance processes and controls
  • Developing core project artefacts including requirements documentation, testing plans, RAID logs and status reporting
  • Enhancing management information, reporting capability and data capture across the compliance function
  • Supporting the integration of acquisitions and assessing operating model impacts
  • Identifying project risks, managing issues and ensuring appropriate escalation
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Front Office, Technology, Risk, Finance, HR and third-party providers
  • Supporting ad-hoc compliance initiatives including investigations, incident reviews or root cause analysis where required

Current initiatives span surveillance enhancements, process efficiency improvements, reporting harmonisation, conflicts management tooling and assurance framework development.

Candidate Profile:

We are seeking an individual who combines strong hands-on project delivery capability with a solid understanding of regulatory change and compliance operations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering regulatory or compliance-related change projects within financial services
  • A background in business analysis or project delivery, now operating in a hybrid project manager role
  • Strong experience managing projects end-to-end through the delivery lifecycle and transition to BAU
  • Familiarity with the UK regulatory landscape, including frameworks such as SMCR and MiFID
  • Experience performing gap analysis, requirements gathering and process improvement
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk and technology teams
  • Experience working within small to mid-sized financial services firms or fast-moving environments
  • Exposure to both brokerage/trading firms and larger financial institutions
  • Consultancy background
  • Formal project or business analysis certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, BA certifications)

This is not a traditional banking environment. The organisation is entrepreneurial, fast-paced and growth-oriented, offering a high level of autonomy and exposure.

The successful candidate will be:
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, delivery-focused role
  • Able to work with limited bureaucracy and minimal micromanagement
  • Highly visible and accountable for project outcomes
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented and adaptable
  • A confident communicator capable of influencing senior stakeholders globally

This represents a strong opportunity to join a scaling global financial services business at a pivotal stage of growth, where the Compliance function is evolving from expansion to operational optimisation and maturity.

You will gain exposure to senior leadership, global regulatory change initiatives and strategic transformation programmes, while playing a key role in shaping the future compliance operating model.
