Job summary

A major financial services firm is seeking a Compliance Officer to join their Mortgages and Financial Planning pillar. This role involves supporting the delivery of clear guidance and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate should have experience in financial services, especially mortgages, and be knowledgeable about FCA regulations. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential. Qualifications

  • Must have experience in financial services, especially mortgages.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of FCA principles and regulations.
  • Must have an understanding of the requirements under The Consumer Duty.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills and happy to work in a structured, regulatory driven environment.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and individually.
  • CeMap or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and complete monitoring and operational tasks.
  • Quality Assurance of Adviser files including mortgages.
  • Provide feedback where appropriate.
  • Writing and implementing thematic reviews.
  • Production of Compliance Audit Reports.
  • Handle complaints from investigation to conclusion.
  • Production of Management Information.
  • Completing the FCA reports on RegData.
  • Conduct internal suspicious activity investigations.
  • Complete FIT & Proper / SMCR Checks.
  • Assist with data protection requirements.
  • Approve standard documents and Financial Promotions.
  • Write and implement company-wide training.
  • Review and update company policies and procedures.

We're currently looking for a Compliance Officer to join our Mortgages and Financial Planning pillar. This is a pivotal role that supports our mission to deliver clear, pragmatic guidance and advice-safeguarding our clients, colleagues, and the business through a risk-based, commercially aware approach.

The Role

The Compliance Officer plays a vital role in supporting our mission to provide clear, pragmatic guidance and advice to the business-protecting our clients, colleagues, and the organization through a risk-based, commercially aware approach. The Compliance Officer will help drive continuous improvement, ensuring that compliance and financial crime programs are robust, practical, and accessible. Principle Accountabilities
  • The CO will be expected to adhere to and complete monitoring and operational tasks as set out in the Department's Compliance Monitoring Plan.
  • Quality Assurance of Adviser files including Regulated and Non-Regulated Mortgages, Consumer Credit, Pure Protection; includes transactions undertaken by SPF subsidiary companies.
  • Provide face-to-face feedback where appropriate.
  • Writing and implementing thematic reviews.
  • Production of Compliance Audit Reports regarding the audits conducted.
  • Complaints Handling (from investigation through to conclusion).
  • Production of Management Information.
  • Collating information for and completing the FCA reports on RegData.
  • Understanding and Implementing Consumer Due Diligence procedures
  • Completing internal suspicious activity investigations (through to completion) and completing NCA reporting
  • FIT & Proper / SMCR Checks including updating the FCA Directory.
  • Assisting with meeting the requirements under data protection.
  • Approval of standard documents and Financial Promotions.
  • Writing and implementing company wide training.
  • Creation, review, and updating of company policies and procedures.
