Overview

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Worcestershire to assist with the appointment of a Compliance Manager on a 12-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.33 per hour

Summary

The Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) will be the Councils qualified and competent person for all fire safety and compliance matters across Worcestershire County Councils Corporate and Maintained School portfolio. This dynamic and autonomous role involves managing and developing the Councils Fire Compliance Programme in line with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, ensuring all premises remain safe and compliant. The postholder will proactively lead on fire risk assessments, statutory compliance, contractor performance, and strategic planning while providing expert advice, assurance, and leadership in fire safety management.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the delivery of the Councils Fire Compliance Programme, ensuring all WCC Corporate and Maintained School premises comply with statutory fire safety regulations.
  • Act as the Councils Responsible Person (Fire) in accordance with WCC Fire Policy.
  • Plan, commission, and oversee fire risk assessments, reviews, inspections, and remedial actions, ensuring timely completion and accurate record keeping.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, and service providers, monitoring performance against KPIs and taking corrective action when required.
  • Provide professional advice and training to WCC staff and schools on fire safety and general statutory compliance.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Level 6 qualification (or equivalent compensatory experience).
  • Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent industry-recognised qualification.
Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and associated legislation.
  • Significant experience managing large-scale fire compliance or related contracts (100+ premises).
  • Proven record of delivering end-to-end fire safety management programmes.
  • Experience in managing contractors, supply chains, and performance frameworks.
  • Strong background in risk assessment, project delivery, and health & safety compliance.
  • Experience liaising with senior stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Skilled in data management, reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Must hold a valid driving licence.
