Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a compliance role within UK financial services.
  • Experience of preparing FCA permissions applications preferable.
  • Demonstrable experience of organising team affairs.

Job description

We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Risk & Compliance team here at N Brown where you’ll be responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with all relevant regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.

The Compliance Manager plays a key role in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, fostering a culture of compliance, and supporting business operations within the legal and regulatory framework, with an absolute focus on delivering good customer outcomes.

What will you do as a Compliance Manager?
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to FCA, GDPR, UK Bribery Act, AML regulations, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regulatory horizon scanning and work with business stakeholders to implement changes accordingly.
  • Liaise with regulators and manage regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare applications for FCA permissions.
Policy Development & Implementation
  • Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure policies are embedded across the organisation and reflect current regulations.
  • Ensure policies and business standards are up to date and prepared in good time to get the appropriate approval.
Risk Management
  • Identify compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and maintain risk registers.
Training & Awareness
  • Design compliance training modules.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour.
Financial Crime & Conduct Risk
  • Support the MLRO in maintaining AML frameworks and training.
  • Oversee conduct risk and consumer duty frameworks.
  • Work with Fraud business areas to ensure good outcomes for customers and impacted parties.
What skills and experience will you have?
  • Strong understanding of UK financial services regulations with particular knowledge of the FCA Handbook, CCA, GDPR, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a project team.
  • Effective communicator with ability to influence at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Professional certifications desirable (ICA or similar).
