Compliance Specialist | International Retailer | London | Hybrid Working | £45,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Additional Benefits

We're now looking for a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to help ensure their products meet the highest regulatory, safety, ethical, and sustainability standards across our diverse range.

Role Overview

The Compliance Specialist will oversee supplier compliance, manage product testing, inspections, conduct social audits, and ensure all labelling and warnings meet legal requirements. This role works closely with Product Development and the wider Compliance team to support smooth, compliant product launches across international markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure products comply with local, national, and international regulatory standards, including safety, environmental, sustainability, and labelling requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update internal processes accordingly.
  • Assess product risks and support internal teams with corrective actions and improvements.
  • Promote sustainable compliance practices aligned with ESG goals.
  • Determine testing requirements by product type and coordinate with test laboratories.
  • Manage relationships with global test labs to ensure compliance with standards such as CPSIA, REACH, Prop 65, and EN71.
  • Coordinate inspections and product testing to uphold consistent quality prior to shipment.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of testing, certifications, and audit records.
  • Review product labels, artwork, and packaging for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide timely guidance to prevent delays in sampling, approvals, and production.
  • Manage supplier compliance programs, ensuring adherence to ethical sourcing, fair labor practices, and sustainability standards.
  • Conduct and review third-party social audits and address gaps with clear improvement plans.
  • Monitor a diverse supplier base to ensure ongoing factory compliance and audit validity.
  • Collaborate with Product Development to integrate compliance requirements early in the lifecycle.
  • Work with Marketing, Legal, and Design teams to ensure accurate, compliant product communication.
  • Partner with the existing Compliance team to align processes and standards across departments.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Compliance, Supply Chain, Business, Law, or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience in product compliance, supplier compliance, or regulatory affairs (retail industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of global product safety and ethical sourcing regulations (e.g., REACH, CPSIA, Prop 65, EN71).
  • Familiarity with product testing protocols and established relationships with global labs.
  • Experience managing diverse product types, including retail fixtures, POS, accessories, and branded merchandise.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret legal/regulatory documentation.
  • Experience with global suppliers and navigating complex regulatory environments.
  • Experience conducting factory audits and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Knowledge of sustainability principles and circular product design is a plus.
