Job summary

Vortex Companies, a specialist CIPP rehabilitation contractor, seeks an experienced Compliance Manager to join our growing operations team in the South of the UK. Based in our office, you will develop, implement, and maintain health & safety, quality, and environmental compliance frameworks.

You will manage audits and accreditations, monitor legislation and client requirements, and train staff to embed a strong compliance culture across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' proven experience in a Compliance, QHSE, or similar role within drainage, utilities, or construction.
• NEBOSH Diploma or IEMA qualification desirable.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Experience managing external audits and accreditation renewals.
• Confident in interpreting health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation.
• Experience with operational teams in live infrastructure environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, quality, and environmental management systems.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other accreditations.
• Manage internal and external audit programmes, including findings closure.
• Monitor changes in legislation and client requirements; update policies accordingly.
• Support incident investigations, near misses, and non-conformances with corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance records and certification within systems.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance and safety requirements.
• Liaise with certification bodies, regulators, and clients on accreditation matters.
• Prepare compliance reports, KPIs, and management information for leadership.
• Support tenders with relevant compliance documentation.
• Represent the company professionally in compliance-related communications.

About the Role

Vortex, a specialist CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) rehabilitation contractor, is seeking an experienced and diligent Compliance Manager to join our growing operations team, supporting projects across the South of the UK.

This is a key role within the business. Working from our office, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our health & safety, quality, and environmental compliance frameworks, ensuring the company meets all relevant legal, regulatory, and client accreditation requirements.

Working closely with operations, engineering, and site teams, you will play a critical role in embedding a strong compliance culture across the business, managing audits and accreditations, and supporting the safe and compliant delivery of trenchless rehabilitation and lining projects.

This position is based in our office and involves regular liaison with site teams, external auditors, certification bodies, and clients to ensure compliance standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain company health & safety, quality, and environmental management systems
• Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other relevant accreditations
• Manage the internal and external audit programme, including preparation, coordination, and close-out of findings
• Monitor and interpret changes in legislation, industry standards, and client requirements, updating policies and procedures accordingly
• Support the investigation of incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented
• Maintain accurate compliance records, documentation, and certification within internal and client systems
• Provide guidance and training to site and office-based staff on compliance, health & safety, and quality requirements
• Liaise with certification bodies, regulators, and clients on compliance and accreditation matters
• Prepare compliance reports, KPIs, and management information for senior leadership
• Support tender and pre-qualification submissions with relevant compliance documentation
• Represent Vortex professionally in all compliance-related communications

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' proven experience in a Compliance, QHSE, or similar role within the drainage, utilities, or construction sector
• NEBOSH Diploma or IEMA qualification desirable
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems
• Experience managing external audits and accreditation renewals
• Confident in interpreting and applying health & safety, environmental, and quality legislation
• Experience working with or supporting operational teams in a live infrastructure environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and reporting
• Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders across a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. IOSH or CQI (desireable)
