Job description
Overview

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate who is passionate about our mission, believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology, and is eager to leave their mark on the world. The work environment is intense and collaborative with high-caliber colleagues and a culture that values feedback to drive continuous growth. In-person participation is required throughout the year; team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration and alignment.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only.

Position: CX Compliance Lead Analyst (Compliance Operations) – responsible for end-to-end Transaction Monitoring investigations for customers (individuals/entities) that may lead to drafting and filing a SAR, proactively detecting emerging risks, optimizing compliance processes, and testing new tools and models before production.

Pay Transparency: The target annual salary range is £55,620 — £61,800 GBP, plus bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, and vision).

What you’ll be doing
  • Risk Mining Investigation Analysis
  • Analyze automated alerts and manual referrals from transaction monitoring systems with a focus on complex interconnected cases
  • Conduct due diligence research and KYC reviews on transaction activities across internal and external tools to assess legitimacy and mitigate risks
  • Document findings and create written narratives to support case investigations
  • Recommend case decisions based on investigative results in line with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Tool/Model Testing & Technology Feedback
  • Act as a subject matter expert for new and existing Compliance Operations tools, processes, and future enhancements
  • Conduct UAT to test compliance tools, rules, detection models, automation, and UI enhancements, providing actionable feedback to technology teams on design and efficacy
  • Optimization & Process Improvement
  • Identify patterns or emerging risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, refine, and optimize compliance workflows, models, and procedures with a focus on efficiency, scale, and industry best practices
  • Knowledge Leadership
  • Remain current with industry standards and developments in KYC, BSA/AML, and OFAC, applying regulatory requirements and internal policies to case investigations
  • Maintain detailed documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulations and internal policies
What we look for
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in traditional financial services, crypto, or tech, focusing on transaction monitoring investigations or regulatory matters
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Google apps
  • Flexible and adaptable to a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think strategically and operationally with an eye for risk and opportunity
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills for unstructured challenges
  • Curiosity to understand how things work and a drive to improve systems
Nice to have
  • Experience in EDD and Transaction Monitoring workflows including SAR narrative drafting
  • Experience in project management, data analytics, and/or third-party vendor management
  • Proficiency with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI), JIRA, and Salesforce Service Cloud
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external outsource partners
  • Professional AML or Fraud certification (e.g., CAMS, CFCS, CFE)
  • Advanced degree in business, finance, or customer experience
