Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Bristol is seeking a Compliance Engineer to ensure products meet the latest directives and standards across design, production, testing and service. You will develop and maintain Technical File documents, perform risk assessments and coordinate regulatory inspections with UL, CSA and similar bodies.

We value an Engineering/Physical Sciences degree (or equivalent) and an electro‑mechanical background.

Qualifications

  • Engineering/Physical Sciences degree preferred or equivalent qualification.
  • Electro-mechanical background with plasma processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with NP I engineering to ensure product compliance with directives and standards.
  • Create, review and update Technical File documents.
  • Conduct risk assessments and regulatory assessments.
  • Identify non-conformities and initiate corrective actions.
  • Chair and document safety reviews.
  • Support UL, CSA and other inspections.
  • Conduct EMC measurements and support EMC testing.
  • Develop compliance guidelines and training for NP I teams.
  • Occasionally visit overseas customers to provide support.

We are currently recruiting for a Compliance Engineer for a permanent role based in Severn Beach, Bristol. As a Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing the Design, Production, Test, and Service departments with up-to-date guidance and support to ensure that our products comply with the latest relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities
  • Work with NPI Engineering teams to ensure new products meet the relevant directives and standards.
  • Create, review and update product Technical File documents.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Conduct assessments to regulatory and industry standards.
  • Identify non-conformities, recommend product and process changes, and initiate Fracas fault reports (FRNs).
  • Chair and write up safety reviews.
  • Support UL, CSA and Semi S2 inspections.
  • Conduct EMC emission measurements and support EMC immunity testing.
  • Work with other departments to develop and maintain product compliance.
  • Develop compliance guidelines and training classes for NPI Engineering teams.
  • Assist in developing Working Instructions, Test Procedures, and manual content.
  • Visit, when necessary, overseas customers and provide necessary support during customer visits to Plasma Technology.
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably required by the Company.
Education / Qualifications
  • Engineering/Physical Sciences Degree would be ideal, but we are open to considering candidates with HNC/HND or other relevant formal qualifications.
  • Ideally, an electro‑mechanical background with experience in plasma processing equipment.
Professional Skills / Abilities
  • Balanced, practical, logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Good attention to detail, focused on getting the task done at a reasonable pace.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
