Our client, a respected organisation within the Utilities / Energy sector industry, is seeking an experienced Compliance & Data Protection Officer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to play a pivotal role in ensuring that the organisation adheres to internal policies, regulatory frameworks, and data protection legislation.

The Role

The Compliance & Data Protection Officer will oversee the companys data protection strategy, ensuring full compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and other relevant privacy laws.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Advising on data protection and privacy matters across the organisation.
  • Maintaining and updating compliance documentation, records, and training materials.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, including ISO accreditation.
  • Delivering staff compliance training and ensuring timely certification.
  • Investigating compliance concerns and reporting findings to senior management.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies and supporting risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Providing administrative support to HR and Health & Safety departments when required.
About You
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and related laws.
  • Proven experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance-related roles.
  • Strong understanding of data processing operations and information governance.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, standards, and certification processes.
  • Excellent organisational and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance tracking systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across departments.

Experience Within Aregulated Industry Is Advantageous But Not Essential.
