Description

We are seeking a Compliance Assurance Officer to help safeguard Somerset Bridge Group’s integrity and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards. In this pivotal role, you will deliver the compliance assurance plan by independently conducting regulatory assurance and monitoring activities.

You will assess the effectiveness of regulatory and conduct risk controls, providing clear assurance to Senior Management and the Governing Body. Your work will be critical in identifying, monitoring, and reporting compliance risks—protecting SBG’s reputation and ensuring operations remain within legal and regulatory frameworks.

Collaboration is key: you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to strengthen the internal control environment and drive a culture of compliance across the Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assurance monitoring and report compliance outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Deliver training and guidance to promote understanding and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and second-line functions to optimise assurance coverage and minimise duplication.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and provide timely insights to ensure compliance with evolving standards.
  • Advise and challenge on compliance issues, contributing to the SBG's compliance strategy.
  • Identify and escape risks, recommending solutions to address control deficiencies and mitigate future issues.
  • Manage assurance work streams, ensuring timely completion, high-quality reporting, and effective follow-up on agreed actions.
  • Analyse data trends and anomalies using monitoring and testing tools to strengthen risk management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and conduct priorities, ideally in insurance.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations to business deliverables.
  • Skilled in coordinating assurance activities, collating evidence, and ensuring compliance.
  • Effective self-management of workload, balancing quality and deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of risk, controls, and materiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including report writing.
  • Strong analytical skills for data review, trend identification, and anomaly detection.
  • Methodical, inquisitive, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Proactive in developing technical knowledge and continuous learning.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Research capability to stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends.
  • Proficient IT skills for assurance tasks.
Benefits
